26 Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested By Police In Lagos

No fewer than 26 armed robbery suspects were arrested across the state in the last one week, the Lagos State Police Command reveals on Wednesday.

Imohimi Edgal, the commissioner of Police in the state, while briefing newsmen in the command headquarter in Ikeja, disclosed that the suspects were arrested at Ejigbo, Abule-Egba and Yaba areas of the state. he further stated that the arrest were made possible because of the information made available to the force by the community.

The police boss said that N48,000 and a mobile phone were recovered from one Ifeanyi Eze and Innocent Nwabugo, who were arrested at Ejigbo.

According to him, three “one-chance” operators that used a Vanagon Bus marked LND463XU and painted in Lagos State commercial transport colour were arrested by the police at Awori Bus Stop in Abule-Egba.

Edgal named the suspects as Emmanuel Eno, Samson Adigun and Timothy Ekpo, the police commissioner said the vehicle, two number plates, three phones, one hand chain and four wristwatches were recovered from them.

He added further that two suspected car thieves, Emeka Eze and Okwudili Emmanuel, who stole a Honda Accord Saloon car marked LND192CA were arrested by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yaba.

The Nation Online reports that he said the raiders acted on a tip-off and caught up with the suspects along ECOWAS Route on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway while attempting to sell the car.

“When the car was searched, one CAC ID Card bearing Akinkunmi Olutunbi with telephone number 08025770333 was found inside.

“The owner was contacted through the mobile number and he identified himself as the owner of the car, saying it was snatched from him at gunpoint along Third Mainland Bridge inward Makoko, Yaba.

“The suspects confessed during interrogation that they snatched the car and other vehicles. Investigation is on to recover other stolen vehicles.” he said.
