1. nPDP accuses APC, Buhari of blackmail

The nPDP faction in the All Progressives People’s Congress has accused the federal government of blackmail.

The group accused the presidency of not being interested peace talks.

2. Osinbajo holds closed door meeting with IGP Ibrahim Idris and DSS boss, Daura

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday held a closed door meeting with IGP Ibrahim Idris and DSS boss, Lawal Daura at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Though details of the meeting was not made public, reports have it that their discussion involve the questioning of Senate President Bukola Saraki by the police.

3. Governor Akeredolu is responsible for Bamidele’s attack – Kolapo

The Ekiti State Deputy Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Kolapo Olusola has insisted that the Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, is responsible for the shooting in Ekiti on Friday at the rally organised by the All Progressives Congress for its governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi.

The allegation was leveled in a press statement released by Kolapo’s campaign organization by its spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, saying Akeredolu invaded Ekiti state with thugs and over 150 armed policemen on Friday.

4. Police demand written explanation from Saraki within 48 hours

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has disclosed that the Nigeria Police has formally communicated to him for him to answer questions bordering on the robbery in Offa, Kwara State, in April, and not necessarily for him to appear before force.

The Nigeria Police force had earlier invited the Senate President after he was named as one of the sponsors of arrested suspects responsible for Offa robbery.

5. Soldiers rescue women been used as sex slaves by Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army has rescued hostages, comprising 15 men, 58 Women and 75 Children from the captivity of Boko Haram terrorists who are sexually exploiting the females, using them as sex slaves.

The clearance operation that led to the release was done in conjunction with civilian JTF in the Bama local government area of Borno state.

6. Prison officer killed as 180 prisoners escape from Minna prison

Thirty inmates who escaped from the Minna Medium Security Prison on Sunday night have been recaptured, following combined efforts of Nigerian Prison Service and other security agencies in Niger State.

The jail break however resulted in the death of one prison official and another okada rider.

7. DSS denies withdrawing Saraki, Dogara’s security details

The Department of State Services (DSS) has reacted to the trending report that the secret police has withdrawn half of its personnel attached to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

Spokesperson of the DSS, Nnanna Nnochiri, said no such directive was issued by the service.

8. PDP threatens to boycott 2019 general elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said any attempt to rig the Ekiti state governorship elections may endanger the 2019 general elections and the democratic process in Nigeria.

PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus said this while inaugurating Ekiti State Governorship Campaign Council chaired by Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa-Ibom of Akwa Ibom State.

9. Zamfara commissioner’s wife and children released by kidnappers

The Wife and children of Abdullahi Gurbin-bore, the Zamfara state Commissioner of Youths, Sport and Skills Acquisition, who were kidnapped by some unidentified gunmen on May 2, have regained their freedom, the state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, disclosed.

He stated that no ransom was paid for their release but pressure by security operatives forced the kidnappers to release their victims.

10. Suspected herdsmen kidnap traditional ruler in Delta state

A traditional ruler,Sunday Olisewokwu has been kidnapped by suspected herdsmen from his Ogodor kingdom in Aniocha north local government area of Delta state.

A security source who pleaded anonymity disclosed this to newsmen, stating that the incidence happened on Sunday.
