“Not Too Young To Run Bill Signed Into Law”

President Muhammadu Buhari, has on Thursday, at the council chamber of the Aso Rock Villa, signed into law the “not too young to run” bill earlier passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.

The President’s special assistant on new media and strategy, Bashir Ahmad made the disclosure in a series of tweets from his Twitter handle.

Naija News recalls President Buhari had himself during his democracy day speech to Nigerians on May 29,  promised to sign the bill in a few days time.

He has now fulfilled his promise.

The bill seeks to reduce the age limit for individuals willing to contest elective offices.

Naija News reports that with the signing of the bill, there will be a reduction in the age of qualification for the office of the President from 40 to 35 years, House of Reps from 30 to 25 years; and the House of Assembly from 30 to 25 years.

However, the age limits for Senators and Governors was not reduced as originally proposed by the sponsors of the bill.
