Fayemi Quits As Mines And Steel Development Minister

Dr. Kayode Fayemi has on Wednesday, resigned his appointment as a federal minister in charge of mines and steel development in President Buhari’s cabinet to concentrate on the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State.

Fayemi, as reported by Naija News, had earlier emerged the APC flag bearer for the Ekiti governorship elections, and had promised to resign his appointment as a minister.

His resignation letter was submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari three weeks ago, but it officially takes effect from Wednesday, May 30.

Recall Fayemi, won a rescheduled primary of the party on May 12, polling 941 votes to emerge the APC candidate.

Meanwhile, Governor Fayose has already boasted that Fayemi would be comprehensively defeated in the Ekiti gubernatorial election.

“He will suffer the worst defeat of his political career… after the July 14 election, he will go into political oblivion,” Fayose said.
