Dr. Kayode Fayemi Former Governor of Ekiti State

Barring any last minute changes, Naija News understands that the President of the Federation of Muslim women Associations of Nigeria (FOMWAN), Ekiti State Chapter and a former Commissioner for women affairs, Alhaja Dr Habibat Adubiaro is set to be announced as running mate of APC governorship candidate in Ekiti, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Though originally from Igboora, in Oyo state, Dr. Adubiaro is married to an Ado Ekiti indigene.

Although the party is yet to officially announce the running mate of Fayemi ahead of the July 14 governorship elections in the state, she is said to be very popular among the Muslim community in the state.

She is also not a stranger to the political terrain, having served as the special Adviser to the Governor of Ekiti State between year 2003 and 2004, and serving on the board of various parastatals.

Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, is presently the President of Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria, Ekiti State Chapter, and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Chemistry at the federal university, Oye Ekiti.

Naija News recalls that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also picked a Muslim, Deji Ogunsakin as the party’s deputy governorship candidate.

The stage is getting set and the game is getting more interesting as political gladiators continue to shine their armour ahead of the Ekiti governorship polls.

It however remains the duty of the people to exercise their right by selecting and electing their preferred candidate.
