1. Buhari has fulfilled his campaign promises – Lai Mohammed

Minister of information, Lai Mohammed has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari has fulfilled all his campaign promises with ‘unprecedented accomplishments’ within three years of his administration.

Speaking yesterday, in Lagos, where he outlined the achievements of the administration, he said contrary to critics, who claim the government had nothing to show for its three years of existence, the Buhari administration had ‘performed beyond expectations’.

2. Saraki celebrates children’s day with IDP camp children

Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Sunday, visited the internally displaced camp in Benue state to mark the 2018 Children’s Day with children at the Abegena Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.

Saraki was received by the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom who led the delegation to the camp.

3. Atiku appoints Gbenga Daniel as head of 2019 presidential campaigns

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has appointed a former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel to lead his 2019 presidential campaign.

In a letter, which Atiku personally signed, the ex-VP announced that Daniel will have overall responsibility for personnel, resourcing and campaign staffing.

4. FG declares May 29 as public holiday

The 29th of May 2018, has been declared a public holiday by the Federal Government to commemorate the 2018 Democracy Day.

This was announced by the Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.) , in a statement in Abuja today by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. M. Umar.

5. Obasanjo masterminded illegal removal of five governors from office – Presidency

The Buhari administration on Sunday stepped up its attacks against former President Olusegun Obasanjo, accusing him of masterminding illegal ouster of at least five governors in the 2000s.

Mr Shehu accused the former president of deploying federal machinery to remove ex-governors Joshua Dariye, Rashidi Ladoja, Peter Obi, Chris Ngige and Ayo Fayose from office. The politicians were governors of Plateau, Oyo, Anambra, Anambra and Ekiti, respectively.

6. Gunmen kill 30 persons in Zamfara

At least 30 persons were reportedly killed in a fresh attack by bandits in Malikawa village of Gidan Goga district in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Reports yesterday revealed that the bandits had earlier attacked and killed five persons who had gone to work in their farms.

7. nPDP set to meet Buhari and Osinbajo today

In continuation of the dialogue over the grievances of members of the new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) bloc of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), another meeting between the group and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will hold today in Abuja.

The bloc members are also expected to meet President Muhammadu Buhari later in the day to intimate him about the outcome of their meeting.

8. 13 die in Adamawa cholera outbreak

The Adamawa Ministry of Health has confirmed that the cholera outbreak in Mubi has risen to 434 cases, with 13 deaths.

The ministry’s Information Officer, Abubakar Muhammed, confirmed the number, in a statement he issued yesterday, in Yola.

9. Police and IPOB trade words over sit at home order

Anambra Police Command and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have engaged in war of words following May 30 sit-at-home order by the group.

While the police insisted that IPOB, as a proscribed organisation, lacked the legitimacy to declare a protest order, IPOB said police can’t stop it from carrying out its religious obligation to Biafra’s fallen heroes.

10. Moses Simon ruled out of 2018 World cup

Nigeria’s Victor Moses has been ruled out of contention to make Nigeria’s team to the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia due to injury.

The news was confirmed by coach Gernot Rohr.
