Jigawa Records A  Total Of 15,722 Collected Old And New PVCs

The Jigawa office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that it has distributed 15, 722 Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to eligible voters across the 27 local government areas of Jigawa State,

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Commission, Dr. Aliyu Muhammad who was speaking with newmen in his office, said the collection consisted of both old and new PVCs under the registration of new voters and Collection of Permanent Voters Card by eligible voters across the state.

Dr. Muhammad said that in the first quarter of 2017, the Jigawa offices of INEC had distributed 47,000 PVCs to eligible voters, while in the first quarter of this year the commission disbursed 64,152 voters cards to Jigawa eligible voters.However, out of the 20,960 voters registered, about 10,571 collected their PVCs,

Muhammad noted that out of the total number 0f 64,152 eligible voters registered, the commission was able to disburse 15,722 certified voters cards to their rightful owners through the mobilisation of our staff commitments.

Similarly, the Commission has disbursed over 10,000 voters cards in this first quarter of this year to date.

Meanwhile Naija News recalls that INEC has complained about the low response of people to collection of PVCs, especially in Lagos State where number of uncollected PVC is highest.

Nigeria is scheduled to hold a general election in 2019.
