1. President Buhari to receive 2018 budget from National Assembly on Friday

Bukola Saraki, the President of the Nigerian Senate has announced that the National Assembly would send the harmonized 2018 Budget to President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

Saraki made this known at the Presidential Villa while breaking his fast with President Muhammadu Buhari.

2. Reps fail in attempt to override President Buhari on Peace Corps Bill

The attempt by honourable members of the House of Representatives to override President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision not to sign the Peace Corps Bill establishment bill has failed.

Reports obtained by Naija News says members have just voted against the second reading of the bill during house sitting.

3. Buhari appoints ex-IG, Musiliu Smith to replace Okiro as chairman of Police Service Commission

Former Inspector-General of Police, Musiliu Smith, has been appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Chairman of the Police Service Commission.

Musiliu is to succeed former IGP, Mike Okiro, as chairman of the PSC.

4. Court grants former governor Jonah Jang N100m bail

The high court sitting in Plateau, the capital of Jos, has granted bail to former governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, standing trial before it.

The former governor was granted a N100m bail on Thursday morning by Justice Daniel Longji with two sureties in like sum, one of which must be a first class traditional ruler within the area.

5. Court nullifies Jubrin’s suspension by House of Reps

The 180-legislative-day suspension placed on a former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin,‎ by the House of Representatives, on September 28, 2016 has been deemed illegal by an Abuja based court.

Justice John Tsoho while declaring his verdict on the suspension imposed on the lawmaker, said the suspension of the legislator as illegal and ordered the lower legislative chamber to pay him all the salary due to him for the period he was unjustly suspended.

6. Okorocha denies dumping APC

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, has denied rumours making the rounds that he is planning to dump the ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC) for APGA.

The governor made the refutal in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo.

7. Court declares Innoson boss, Innocent Chukwuma wanted

A Special Offences Court sitting in Lagos has declared Mr. Innocent Chukwuma, the chairman of Innoson Motors wanted.

The declaration by the court was as a result of the continuous refusal of the industrialist to attend proceedings.

8. Mace stolen at Gombe state house of assembly

The mace of the Gombe State House of Assembly was yesterday stolen during plenary.

The legislative symbol of authority was snatched during a sitting to remove the Minority Leader of the assembly, Ahmed Haruna, who represents Gombe North state constituency.

9. Armed men invade residence of ex-president Jonathan’s aide

Some armed policemen allegedly invaded the Arogbo community in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Thursday, shooting into the air.

The community is said to be the home town of a former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Kingsley Kuku, whose house was reportedly thoroughly searched by the armed policemen.

10. Trump cancels planned summit with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un

On Thursday, U.S President Donald Trump put a stop to a planned summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, even after North Korea made good its pledge to blow up tunnels at its nuclear test site.

Trump said in a letter to the North Korean leader that he feels the timing of the meeting is inappropriate.
