1. President Buhari awards national productivity order of merit

President Muhammadu Buhari, has warned that no form of mediocrity would be tolerated from any private or public citizen by his administration, adding that he would go out of his way to reward excellence.

The warning came at the 17th National Productivity Order of Merit, NPOM, Awards at the Nigerian Airforce Conference Centre, Abuja, in his promise to reward excellence.

2. Buhari queries Obasanjo over $16bn power fund

Trouble might be looming for former President Olusegun Obasanjo following President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to querry the spending of $16 on power project during his administration .

Buhari who received the Buhari Support Organization led by the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Ahmed Ali did not mention Obasanjo’s name, but asked where was the power after a former president claimed to have spent $16bn on the project.

3. CBN retains monetary policy rates at 14%

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has left the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 14% and all other variables unchanged.

The CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, announced the decision of the committee at the end of a two-day meeting held at the apex bank’s headquarters in Abuja.

4. IG vs Saraki: President Buhari holds closed door meeting with Senate committee

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, held a closed door meeting with some senators at the Presidential Villa, Abuja over the ongoing saga between the lawmakers and the police boss, Ibrahim Idris.

The meeting held inside the president’s office but Dr. Bukola Saraki was absent during the meeting.

5. Omo-Agege and Ali Ndume face probe over stolen Senate mace

Senators Ovie Omo-Agege and Ali Ndume on Tuesday, appeared before the investigative committee probing the invation of the senate chambers leading to the stealing of the mace.

Both senators were implicated in the events surrounding the invasion of the senate chamber by hoodlums.

6. Hoodlums kidnap Zamfara state commissioner’s wife and six children

Wife of Zamfara State Commissioner and six children have been kidnapped by gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday at Gurbin Bore village in the state.

The gunmen were said to have attacked the home of the Commissioner of Youths, Sports and Skills Acquisition, Alhaji Abdullahi Gurbin Bore in the village located in Zurmi Local Government at about 1:30am.

7. 200 armed policemen were unleashed on me – Senator Melaye

Embattled Senator Dino Melaye, has revealed some details of what transpired between him and security operatives while he was in police custody.

The Kogi Senator revealed that a team of 200 fully armed policemen was unleashed against him, further stating that his arms were tied and he was put in solitary confinement.

8. Ondo Assembly impeaches deputy speaker, elects a replacement

Ondo State House of Assembly, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Iroju Ogundeji has been impeached.

Ogundeji who represents Odigbo state constituency 1 was impeached at plenary on Tuesday and Hon. Bimbo Fajolu representing Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo constituency has been elected as the new Deputy Speaker.

9. I am ready for probe – Obasanjo dares Buhari

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has responded to insinuations by President Muhammadu Buhari that $16b Power Project fund was mismanaged.

Obasanjo through his media aide Kehinde Akinyemi, described Buhari’s claims as unsubstantial.

10. Atletico Madrid defeats Super Eagles in Uyo

Defending champions of the Europa league, Atletico Madrid,on Tuesday defeated Nigeria’s Super Eagles team B in a friendly game played in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

The Spanish team, ran out 3-2 winners in a highly entertaining match.
