1. President Buhari is bad business for corrupt politicians – Presidency

The presidency has declared that the Buhari government is bad business for a number of parliamentarians, civil servants and security agents.

Mr Garba Shehu said corrupt politicians, public officers, police officers, Customs and Immigration officials who hitherto benefited from corrupt practices during previous administrations were uncomfortable with the Buhari administration.

2. Omisore dumps PDP for SDP

An intending gubernatorial candidate in Osun state, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has moved from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Omisore declared that his new political move was irreversible and argued that those who have “misconstrued” his personality of toughness and flexibility to be ‘arrogance’ are weak personalities with an intent of mischief.

3. APC and nPDP set to hold show down talks

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and members of the new PDP (nPDP) bloc of the APC is slated to meet in Abuja today in order to address the grievances raised by members of the nPDP.

The bloc, comprising members of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) called the nPDP, had teamed up with the APC to dislodge the PDP from its 16-year rule in the 2015 general election.

4. JAMB fixes new date for rescheduled candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Sunday, has fixed May 26 for rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) for more than 12,000 candidates across the country.

This category of candidates, are those whose biometrics were not captured during the initial period of the UTME in March.

5. Armed bandits attack Benue state

At least, five soldiers were reportedly killed and two others kidnapped after suspected herdsmen clashed with some personnel in Logo LGA of Benue State on Sunday.

The attackers also burnt down Army patrol vehicles during the encounter, which also left many soldiers injured.

6. Why President Buhari may not sign 2018 budget yet

Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, has hinted that President Muhammadu Buhari might not assent to the 2018 budget recently raised to N9.1 trillion by the National Assembly with additional N501 billion.

This, he linked to the need to provide clarity on the source for extra funds needed to run the budget.

7. Atiku, other politicians visit Jonah Jang in prison

Former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Information and Orientation Jerry Gana and some other key politicians on Sunday paid solidarity visits to the embattled Senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly, Jonah Jang, in prison.

The former governor had been dragged to court by the EFCC, and remanded in prison over alleged fraud case to the tune of N6.3b.

8. Civilians prevent suicide bomb attack in Yobe state

The Nigerian Army said some courageous civilians on Sunday foiled a suicide bomb attack by a suspected female Boko Haram member on a mosque in Gashua, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe.

Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Deputy Director Public Relations, Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole, disclosed this in a statement released in Maiduguri.

9. Jonathan is better than Buhari – APC chieftain

Timi Frank, A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC), has apologised to former president, Goodluck Jonathan, stating that he was a better leader than President Muhammadu Buhari.

Frank in an open letter to the ex-president conveyed his apology.

10. PDP slams federal government over payment of subsidy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of corruption over the fuel subsidy regime of his government, throwing its weight behind state governors’ query of the subsidy regime.

The main opposition party has therefore challenged the President to expose financial impropriety going on within his administration.
