Delta State APC Elect Ogodo As New Chairman

Cyril Ogodo, a former Deputy Chairman of the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, has been elected as the new state chairman in a toughly contested congress election on Monday.

Ogodo, who is from Sapele in Delta Central Senatorial District, claimed victory over his close rival, Fred Obe, who is from Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta South.

other positions were returned unopposed after a voice confirmation by the delegates, aside the chairmanship position which was contested.

Ogodo scored 731 votes, while Obe scored 99 votes. Thirteen votes were voided.

The congress, which was generally tranquil was held under tight security, as delegates from the 25 local government areas of the state came out to vote for the new State Executive Committee.

Punch Reports that the exercise, which was witnessed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, was conducted by the Eugine Udoh-led State Congress Committee approved by the APC National Working Committee.
