Anambra Hosts Igbo Summit On Restructuring

President of Anambra State Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, has admonished the Igbo race to stand as one on the affairs affecting them, especially on the ongoing discourse on restructuring.

Okeke-Ogene stated this on Monday to newsmen at the sidelines of the ongoing Igbo Summit by the group in Anambra State.

He stated that the conversation on whether or not restructuring was the way to go which was initiated by the 2014 National Conference must be of huge concern to the Igbo race.

Ohaneze Ndigbo is the highest Igbo socio-cultural group that represents that represent the interest of all igbo people both within and outside Nigeria

He said the group was therefore holding the summit tagged: “Restructuring the pre-independence arrangement of encouraging autonomous regional growth and development’’ to bring to the front burner issues on restructuring as they affect the Igbo race.

The stated that the conference would afford the people of the Igbo tribe to speak with one voice as regards the problem that affects them and to come up with an adequate solution to the problem.

“The debate for restructuring of Nigeria has been on and Ndigbo are set to harmonise their views during this summit being organised by the Ohaneze group,’’ he said.

He added that the conference must be graced by all Igbo people, while debunking the rumour that the cancellation of the summit was as the result of the threat of the IPOB.

Okeke Ogene specially acknowledged the effort of the the Secretary to the State Government Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu who was sent by the Anambra State government to ensure that the conference succeed.

He reassured participants of their safety as security operatives were on ground to secure the place.
