1. President Buhari commissions projects in Jigawa

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital for his two-day working visit to the state.

He yesterday, commissioned a N9 billion agricultural project as part of activities during his visit.

2. Police and Shiites clash again in Abuja

The Shiite group, yesterday resumed it weekly protest against the continued detention of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.

The protesting group stopped all activities at the Federal Secretariat complex, Abuja, a few meters from the National Assembly and the Presidential Villa.

The youths, who were armed with stones, chased away a police team and overturned a traffic warden cabin on the road.

3. Armed security men take over Kano house of assembly

Armed policemen, have taken over the Kano State House of Assembly complex over alleged plan by some legislators to cause trouble in the House by impeaching the speaker of the house, Yusuf Ata.

Heavily armed security personnel were seen keeping watch at the complex, preventing visitors from accessing the complex.

4. Court dismisses suit challenging tenure extension for APC executives

A Federal High Court in Abuja, has dismissed two suits filed by five members of the All Progressive Congress (APC), challenging the alleged extension of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) members’ tenure.

Justice Nnamdi Dimgba who gave the ruling in the two judgments yesterday, held that the suits have been over taken by events following the decision of the APC to reverse the purported tenure elongation.

5. Leah Sharibu celebrates 15th birthday in Boko Haram den

Leah Sharibu, one of the kidnapped Dapchi girls, who was held back by the Boko Haram for not renouncing her Christian faith, yesterday celebrated her 15th birthday but still in captivity of her captors.

The federal government has said she would be released but their efforts have so far failed to yield results.

6. Fayemi to resign as minister in two weeks time

Dr Kayode Fayemi, flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti gubernatorial race, has promised to resign his appointment as Minister of Mines and Steel Development in two weeks time.

Fayemi was declared the candidate of the APC on Saturday having won the party’s primary election by 941 votes.

7. Buratai opens military base in Birnin Gwari

The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has flagged-off a two Battalion Forward Operation Base (FOB) at the troubled Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State, Nigeria on Monday.

The FOB was tagged Operation ‘Idon Raini’ at Kanfanin Doka village, the proposed site.

Addressing the soldiers, Mr Buratai charged the soldiers to get the killers in the troubled area within three weeks.

8. JOHESU accuses medical doctors of plans to sabotage strike action

The National Chairman of JOHESU, Biobebelemoye Josiah, has alerted the public on purported efforts by Nigerian doctors to frustrate ongoing talks to end the four-week-old strike embarked upon by the union.

Mr Josiah, also accused the Ministry of Health of collaborating with the doctors in suppressing JOHESU’s legitimate demands from the government.

9. 37 Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers

With the official unveiling of the deeply controversial Jerusalem embassy by the United States, on Monday, violent clashes between Palestinians and Israeli forces along the Gaza strip’s border have greeted the ceremony.

Reports reveals the about 37 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli firepower and hundreds more were injured, in what has been described as the bloodiest day in years.

10. Coach Gernot Rohr releases Super Eagles World cup list

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has named Nigeria’s 30-man provisional list for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

The list includes captain John Obi Mikel and is expected to be pruned before the game commences on June 14.
