1. President Buhari to visit Jigawa state

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to visit Jigawa state on a two-day official visit, starting Monday.

Security operatives have been deployed to the state ahead of the president’s visit.

2. Air force deploys special forces to Taraba state

The Nigerian Air Force on Sunday deployed 150 personnel of its special forces to its newly established 23 Quick Response Wing in Nguroje, Sarduana Local Government Council in Taraba.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who addressed the troops in Jalingo before their departure, enjoined them to partner other security agencies to support Taraba in containing insecurity.

3. APC wins Kaduna LG polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has won 17 of the 23 local government chairmanship and councillor elections which were held last Saturday while the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in four local government areas.

The results were announced yesterday by the returning officers at the various local government area headquarters.

4. IPOB vows to attack Ohanaeze Indigbo

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said it will attack the leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo during its summit scheduled for May 12 which is billed to hold in Awka.

The group said no amount of security mobilised to the venue would stop it from carrying out its threat.

5. APC driving Nigeria to anarchy – PDP

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of dragging Nigeria to the brink of anarchy through its nationwide congresses.

PDP hinged its accusation on the spate of violence associated with the APC congresses.

6. Fayemi emerges APC governorship candidate in Ekiti state

Kayode Fayemi has emerged victorious at the APC governorship primaries for Ekiti state.

Fayemi defeated other contestants to emerge candidate of the APC for the July governorship election in the state.

7. SERAP drags Buhari before UN court

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, has called on the United Nations to prevail upon President Muhammadu Buhari to put a stop to wilful disobedience of court judgments by his government.

The organisation, in a petition dated May 11, 2018 to the UN, lamented the Federal Government’s habit of picking and choosing court judgments to obey.

8. Omo-Agege vows to resume in senate despite court case

The lawmaker representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has said despite the appeal filed by the Senate and its President, Bukola Saraki, against the Federal High Court’s judgment nullifying his suspension, he will still resume legislative duties.

According to him, the Senate and Saraki have only applied for a stay of execution at the Court of Appeal which has not been granted.

9. Gunmen attack NAF helipad in Bayelsa state

The Nigerian Air force headquarters has said that its helicopter landing site (Helipad) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State was attacked by unknown gunmen on Sunday.

The Air force however disclosed that its personnel on guard duty at the facility were able to repel the attackers in a shootout.

10. Manchester City makes landmark EPL history

Manchester City made history on Sunday by reaching 100 points in a single EPL season.

The already crowned champions scored late in their game on Sunday to take all three points and set a new league record of total points by any club in the premier league.
