US, Jerusalem, Embassy To Be Opened Today

President Donald Trump had earlier announced the decision to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem back in December, a call which led to crises but was described by Trump as “a long-overdue step to advance the peace process and to work towards a lasting agreement.”

Donald Trump, the US President, addressed the scheduled opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem on Monday as “a great day for Israel,” even as violent clashes erupted between Palestinians and Israeli security forces on the Gaza border.

The president who tweeted this morning made no reference to the violence, instead inviting Twitter followers to watch live coverage of the embassy opening on Fox News channels, which was to begin at 1300 GMT.

Lead up to 9:00 A.M. (eastern) event has already begun. A great day for Israel!” Trump tweeted.
