Nigerian Customs Seizes Bags Of Rice, Vegetable Oil Worth Millions

Customs Seize Contraband Items From Smugglers

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, says it has seized 571 bags of foreign parboiled rice in 50 kilograms bags, each and 49 kegs of 25kg litres of vegetable oil with Duty Paid Value, DPV of N7.6 milion in one week.

The Western Marine Command of the NCS announced this today, while stating that the prohibited items were seized at the Bawe/Akere creeks.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Emmanuel Tangwa, said the new strategies introduced by the Customs Area Controller CAC, Sarkin Kebbi.

He noted that the Western Marine Customs boss expressed his zeal to suppress activities of smugglers around the water-ways, stating that the command will continue it 24hours patrol of the water-ways.

The Area Controller also called on the media and other information stakeholders to continue to help the command with information on smugglers and proper enlightenment of the public on ant-smuggling activities.
