Biafra: Group Demands Freedom Of Detained Members

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafran Independent Movement (BIM), have called on members to ensure the planned May 22 peaceful protest is not hijacked by criminals.

The directive is contained in a statement signed by the Biafra Director of information, Chris Mocha, in which MASSOB leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, promised that the group will deal decisively with any person or group found to have violated its cardinal principle.

The group maintained that the non-violence mode of operation has distinctively differentiated BIM-MASSOB from other groups.

“Our non-violence stance, which disarmed the Federal Government for 18 years of the New Biafra struggle, has differentiated MASSOB-BIM from the terrorist group,” the statement reads.

Also, the MASSOB leader has called on the Nigerian Army regiment in Onitsha, who allegedly arrested one Mr. Wilson Nkanu, to release him.

Nkanu was arrested at Awada, Obosi, near Onitsha, for allegedly operating a motorcycle, popularly known as ‘Okada’, which had a Biafra emblem in front of it.

The group demanded that Nkanu be released unconditionally or handed over to the nearest police station for prosecution.

Meanwhile as earlier reported by Naija News, reacting to the disagreements between MASSOB and BIM over 22nd May celebration, BNYL Leader said ” I think BIM means 18 years anniversary of the old MASSOB and not Biafra Anniversary as a Nation, because Uwazuruike normally celebrate his group anniversary”.
