1. Senate passes vote of no confidence on IGP Ibrahim Idris

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said the lawmakers have declared the Inspector General Of Police(IGP) Ibrahim Idris, persona non grata, stating that he isn’t fit to hold any public office in Nigeria or outside the country.

This follows the decision of the Police boss to ignore Senate summon three times in a row.

2. Why I ignored Senate invitation – Police IG

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has accused Nigerian senators of trying to blackmail and witch hunt him into perverting the course of justice.

Mr Idris, who refused to honour two previous summons by the Senate, said he failed to appear for a third time yesterday because he found no reason to do so.

3. FG stops federal universities from charging tuition

The Federal Executive Council, FEC has barred all Federal university from charging tuition fees .

Minister of State for Education, Anthony Anwukah, announced this while briefing State House correspondents after the council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo this morning.

4. Why Buhari is unfit to rule Nigeria – PDP

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared President Buhari is unwell, therefore unable to attend to state matters.

The party stated this in reaction to the president’s recent trip to UK to keep an appointment with his doctors.

5. Lawmakers and security operatives conspired to steal the mace – NASS police

The Divisional Police Officer in the National Assembly, CSP Sulu-Gambari Abdul has blamed the April 18 invasion of the Senate and removal of the Mace by hoodlums on internal conspiracy.

Abdul stated this during an investigative hearing into the incident by joint ad hoc committee investigating the incident.

6. Boko Haram weakened, but not defeated – UN

The United Nations, (UN), has given a verdict different from the position of the federal government of Nigeria on the actual situation of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

The United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambers, maintained that Boko Haram is definitely weakened, but not defeated as claimed by the Buhari led administration.

7. INEC gives party deadlines to submitt candidates for Ekiti governorship elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has given all the political parties a May 15 deadline to submit the names of their candidates and their running mates for the Ekiti governorship election.

The election is scheduled for Saturday, July 14.

8. Police arrests ex-SARS in connection with Offa robbery

Operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, have arrested one of the robbers declared wanted for the April 5 attacks on banks in Offa, Kwara State.

The suspect, Michael Adikwu, an ex-policeman attached to the SARS office, was reportedly dismissed in 2012 by the Kwara State Police Command for allegedly aiding the escape of some robbery suspects.

9. Dangote named by Forbes as one of the most influential and powerful persons in the World

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has been named by Forbes as one of the most influential and powerful persons in the world.

Dangote, the only Nigerian on the exclusive list, occupies the 66th position on the list.

10. Davido acquires private jet

Nigerian musician, Davido has revealed that that he has bought himself a private jet.

This makes him the youngest Nigerian artiste to own a private jet.
