1. President Buhari travels to UK on medical trip

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday evening, departed the shores of Nigeria for the United Kingdom to keep a medical appointment with his London doctors.

The President will be away for four days and is expected back in the country on Saturday.

2. Ekiti deputy governor, Olusola emerges PDP governorship candidate

Prof. Kayode Olusola, the deputy governor of Ekiti State has emerge the flag-bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State for the July 14 election.

Olusola, who obviously was the anointed candidate of the governor of Ekiti State. Ayodele Fayose, polled 1190 votes to defeat Dayo Adeyeye who had 771 votes.

3. Only Buhari can disclose details of his sickness – Adesina

President Muhammadu Buhari‘s media aide, Mr Femi Adesina on Tuesday said it is only his principal can reveal his ailment or details about his health.

Adesina said this during a phone-in-interview on Channels Television Breakfast Programme, Sunrise Daily while reacting to question about the President’s ailment deserving another trip to London, United Kingdom.

4. President Trump announces US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal

President Donald Trump has today through a televised address from the White House, announced the US withdrawal from the multinational nuclear deal with Iran.

He also stated that Washington would re-enforce sanctions against the Islamic republic.

5. IGP Ibrahim Idris to appear before Senate today

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, is expected to appear before the Senate Wednesday to brief the lawmakers on efforts being made by the police to quell the rising insecurity in different parts of the country.

This is as the Senate summoned the security chiefs over the proliferation of arms across the country, which it said had contributed to heightened insecurity in Nigeria.

6. Tinubu meets Ekiti APC governorship aspirants behind closed doors

The national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu today met with the governorship aspirants of the party in Ekiti state, at the Lagos state government lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

Kayode Fayemi, minister of mines and steel development; Segun Oni, APC deputy chairman (south); and Babafemi Ojudu, politcal adviser of President Muhammadu Buhari were all present in the meeting.

7. Buhari appoints Keyamo, six others as board members of NDIC

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Senior lawyer, Festus Keyamo, SAN, and six others as members of the board of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC.

The six other nominees include Olabode Akeem Mustapha (chairman, Ogun state), Garba Buba (Bauchi state), Bello Garba (Sokoto state), Joseph OJ Okalogu (Enugustate), Mustapha Adewale Mudashiru (Kwara state) and Adewale Adeleke (Ondo state).

8. NEMA receives another 218 Nigerian returnees from Libya

Another 218 Nigerians, today, have voluntarily returned from the volatile North African country of Libya where they had been stranded enroute Europe.

The returnees included seven pregnant women.

9. APC announces new date for conclusion of Ekiti governorship primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced new date for Ekiti State governorship primaries.

The spokesman of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, said that the primary election will hold on Friday, May 11 2018 and would still be conducted by the Governor Tanko Al- Makura led Committee.

10. Sheik Isyaka Rabiu is dead

Kano multi-billionaire businessman, and leader of Tijjaniya Movement in Africa, Sheik Isyaka Rabiu is dead.

Sheikh Isiyaku reportedly passed away after a brief illness in the United Kingdom at the age of 90, according to his son, Alhaji Abdulmalik Isyaku Rabiu.
