A 50 years old man, Mr. Ojo Olakunle, has been been arraigned by the Police before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly disrupting the Ekiti APC governorship primary.

The suspect is facing three counts of destruction of ballot box, interference with the ballot box and acting in disorderly manner.

SP. Femi Falade, the police prosecutor revealed to the court that the defendant committed the offences with some other persons still at large on May 5 at Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, in Ado-Ekiti.

He further accused the suspect of attempting to destroy the ballot boxes and papers used for the APC governorship primaries in the state.

Falade said the accused, without authority, interfered with and threw down the ballot box at the election centre.

The offences go against sections 118 (5), 118 (1) of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.

“He conducted himself in disorderly manner to prevent the election from taking place,’’ he said.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Mr. Odunayo Okunade, the counsel to the defence, prayed the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms, promising that he would not jump bail.

Bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum was granted by the Magistrate, Mr. Adesoji Adegboye. The case have been however adjourned to june 13.

Meanwhile, Kayode Fayemi has denied the report that he walked out of the Meeting to reconcile the conflicting APC governorship aspirants.
