Five Dies, Fourteen Injured In Ogun Road Accident

Two accidents that took place at different parts of Ogun State, has led to the death of five persons, with fourteen others reported injured in the separate accidents.

Report has it that the first accident took place at Alakara, Oke Odan, along Owode-Idiroko Road and led to the death of four people, the accident was said to have involved a Ford bus carrying 18 passengers and a Cabster van with two passengers.

And the accident was caused as a result of the Ford bus driver’s action, with the number plate KSF 01 XC, who reportedly engaged in wrongful overtaking at a bend.

The wrongful overtaking resulted in the driver having a head-on collision with the oncoming Cabster van, with the number plate LSD 491 XQ, which was on its own lane.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, revealed that the accident led to the death of four passengers, including the driver, while the other passengers suffered varying degrees of injury.

He said, “Those who died in the bus, according to a report from our operatives who went to the scene, were four. They were three females and one male.

“Their corpses have been deposited in the General Hospital, Ilaro, in the Yewa South Local Government Area, while those who were injured are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Idiroko.”

On the second road crash, the PRO revealed, occurred at Olorunpodo, along the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway and involved a Honda Civic and a truck.

The car, with the number plate, CW 23 ENU, was reportedly conveying three passengers to a destination when a speeding truck hit it, killing one of the occupants of the car.

Akinbiyi said the driver of the truck sped off after the incident, while two other occupants of the car, who sustained injuries, were rushed to a private hospital at Olorunpodo, for treatment.
