1. President Buhari travels to UK on four-days medical leave

President Muhammadu Buhari will today, Tuesday, 8th May, depart the shores of Nigeria for the United Kingdom to keep a medical appointment with his doctors.

According to a statement from the presidential spokesperson, President Buhari is expected back in the country on Saturday, May 12th.

2. Osinbajo reveals identity of those involved in $3b fraud under Jonathan’s administration

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has unveiled the identities of those who allegedly perpetrated the $3b fraud under ex-president Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

The details were published in a reaction to the accusations by some aides of former President Jonathan, who claimed Osinbajo made false allegations about grand corruption during the Jonathan era.

3. Court adjourns Melaye bail application

A Lokoja Based High Court on Monday adjourned hearing in a bail application and counter motion brought by Sen. Dino Melaye until Thursday.

Melaye along side Kabiru Seidu, alias Osama, and Nuhu Salihu, aka Small, is facing a seven-counts bordering on illegal possession of firearms, criminal conspiracy and illegal dealing in arms.

4. Army rescues 1,000 Boko Haram suspects in Bama

Troops of 22 Brigade deployed in operation LAFIYA DOLE has rescued over 1000 hostages from the Boko Haram Terrorists enclave in Borno state.

The hostages consisted mainly of women, children as well as some young men who were forced to become Boko Haram fighters.

5. Buhari approves new Army battalion, Police base after attacks in Birnin Gwari

Following the killings of 60 persons in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday approved the establishment of a new Battalion of the Nigerian Army, and a new Police Area Command, in the area.

The president, according to a statement by his media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, strongly condemned the latest massacre of innocent Nigerians in the area.

6. President Buhari meets Dogara and Saraki behind closed doors

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday held a closed door meeting with Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the house of reps, Yakubu Dogara at the Aso Rock Villa.

The meeting centered round the 2018 budget, feed backs on the president’s visit to US, Police treatment of Dino Melaye and other national issues of interest.

7.  Evans the kidnapper cries out over maltreatment in prison custody

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a. Evans, Kidnap Kingpin today broke down in tears while approaching the courtroom of Lagos State High Court in Igbosere, where he is facing trial of two fresh charges of kidnapping.

Evans told the judge that he was not been well fed, been maltreated, denied visitors as well as medical care.

8. Sen. Shehu Sani formally declares herdsmen as terrorists

Senator Shehu Sani has formally declared herdsmen who are responsible for the killings and slaughtering in Benue and Taraba as nothing but terrorists except if we want to call a spade a spoon.

The Senator representing Kaduna Central in the National Assembly said this in a series of tweets on the activities of the killer herdsmen.

9. Police Behaved Like ‘Upgraded Barbarians’ Against Melaye – Dogara

Yakubu Dogara, Speaker of the House of Representatives, told State House correspondent after a closed door meeting with Buhari in the Presidential Villa Monday that they complained to the president about the action of the police on Dino Melaye.

He said the Police activities lacked any form of civility, as they behaved like barbarians.

10. Wilfred Ndidi will be ready for 2018 World Cup

Injured Wilfred Ndidi will be ready for the World Cup even though his Premier League season with Leicester City is over, Super Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye has disclosed.

Ndidi is nursing a hamstring injury and he is expected to be out for several weeks but he is expected to be back in action ahead of the World Cup games.
