Gunmen Raid Veritas University, Kidnap Lecturer

Veritas University, Bwari, Abuja, was on Monday raided by gunmen which led to a lecturer of the school been abducted, report has it that the lecturer is also the personal assistant to Prof. Michael Kwanashie, the Vice-Chancellor.

Naija News learnt that the Catholic institution was attacked by the gunmen, around 12am and shot into the air before kidnapping the victim from his quarters opposite the school.

Further information into the report has it that the kidnapped lecturer, who is also a Catholic priest, lived in the same room with Fr. Aloysius Achonwa, the school Chaplain and that the chaplain hid himself in the roof to escape been captured by the gunmen.

A student at the school, who identified herself as Mbafan, said, “It was around 12am when we heard gunshots. Everyone froze in fear. It was in the morning we learnt that the attackers had abducted the priest and were demanding N15m ransom.”

Kwanashie, the Vice-Chancellor of Veritas University, refused to give any statement on the incident, saying he had been advised against issuing any statement for security reasons.

Anjuguri Manzah, the Federal Capital Territory police spokesman, promised to find out from the Bwari Police Division, but no response or feedback was obtained from him before publishing the story.
