A 16-year-old housewife, on Tuesday has been remanded by a Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court, for poison her husband to death in children’s remand home.

The accused, who resides at Shittar village, Danbatta Local Government Area of Kano State, is facing a count charge of culpable homicide.

Hajiya Fatima Adamu, the magistrate who ordered the remand of the accused who was arraigned for poison her husband, Auwalu Isa leading to his death. The magistrate also adjourned the matter until June 7 for mention.

Insp. Aluta Mijinyawa, The prosecutor, told the court that one Ibrahim Yahaya of the same address reported the matter at Danbatta Police Division on April 25.

Naija News gathered that the inspector accused the bride of adding rat poison to the food she cooked for her husband on the 22th of April, at about 7 p.m.

“After her husband ate the food, he died instantly as a result of food poising,’’ he said.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 221 of the Penal Code.
