1. Buhari will sack any corrupt government official – Presidency

The Presidency on Sunday said President Muhammadu Buhari would not fail to sack any government official found culpable of corrupt practices.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, in a statement said Buhari would sack government officials same way he did former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and a former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke.

2. APC postpones Ekiti governorship primaries

The APC governorship primaries in Ekiti state was marred by widespread violence, forcing the party to postpone the primaries indefinitely.

An emergency meeting at the venue of the primaries with all the 33 aspirants, failed to yield result.

3. I have no plans to dump APC – Governor Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has again denied any plan to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The denial was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Terver Akase, issued to journalists in Makurdi, stating that the rumours were false and misleading.

4.  Gunmen kill 45 in attack on Kaduna state

Gwaska village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was attacked by unidentified armed bandits on Saturday, leading to the deaths of 45 residents and several injured.

The incident was said to have occurred at 2:30 a.m. and happened barely 48 hours after the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris and the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Mohammed had visited Birnin Gwari.

5. Boko Haram may not release kidnapped health workers soon – Salkida

Ahmed Salkida, a journalist known to have access to Boko Haram, says the two midwives and one nurse abducted by the terrorist group in March this year, during an attack on Rann community, Borno State, are alive and in good condition, but their abductors are not making any demands or setting a timeline for their release.

The names of the three abducted health workers are Alice Loksha Ngaddah (supposedly working with UNICEF); Hauwa Mohammed Liman and Saifura Husseini Ahmed (both supposedly working with the Red Cross).

6. Osinbajo is a beneficiary of corruption – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has accused Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) of being a beneficiary of corruption.

They also accused the vice president of making unguarded statements at public events.

7. Secondus denies getting money from Dasuki

National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has insisted he did not collect any money, either directly or indirectly, from former national security adviser (NSA), Col Sambo Dasuki (retd).

He stated this in a letter addressed to the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, in which he maintained nothing of such ever happened.

8. Katsina looses chief imam of central mosque

The death has been announced of Imam Muhammad Lawal, the Chief Imam of the Katsina Metropolis Central Mosque.

Lawal died at the age of 95 on Sunday, May 6, after a protracted illness, according to his family spokesman, Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed.

9. Arsenal players give Wenger emotional 5-0 farewell win

The gunners on Sunday, strolled to a comfortable 5-0 victory over their premier league opponents, Burnley, in what was Wenger’s last home game in charge of the London outfit.

After the games, Arsene Wenger bid an emotional farewell to the Emirate faithful as he begins the final days of his time in charge of the club.

10. Manchester City receive premier league trophy

Manchester City on Sunday, surprisingly played out a goalless draw with Huddersfield at the Etihad stadium before their home fans.

The result however had no effect on the fortunes of Man. City who have already been crowned champions and were presented with the premier league trophy on Sunday.
