1. Obasanjo’s letter: Lai Mohammed disobeyed me – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that he warned the the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, not to respond to to the letter released by former President Olusegun Obasanjo but he refused.

It will be recalled that former President Olusegun Obasanjo released a bomb shell letter were he urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019.

2. Dino Melaye granted bail by Abuja court after Police arraignment

The embattled Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial District of Kogi State has been arraigned today before a magistrate court in wuse zone 2 Abuja.

The Nigerian Police reportedly dragged the lawmaker before the court, forcing him to appear in a stretcher.

3. Again, IGP Ibrahim Idris fails to appear before Senate

The inspector-general of police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, who was summoned by the senate over the allegations that Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west was maltreated, has failed to appear before the senate the second time in one week.

He gave an excuse that he was in Kaduna state on an official assignment regarding insecurity.

4. Masked DSS operatives take over National Assembly complex

Security at the National Assembly complex has been heightened with gun-bearing and masked operatives of the Department State Services (DSS) seen manning strategic locations within the parliament building especially the entrance into the lobby and Senate chamber where the mace was stolen two weeks ago.

Police personnel have also been increased and were seen at different areas supporting Sergeant-at-arms personnel in the screening of workers and visitors to the White House and other entry points of the National Assembly.

5. NASU, SSANU, NAAT set to resume indefinite strike action

The Joint Action Committee, comprising of the non-academic staff in the nation’s public universities under the umbrella Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), National Association of Academic Technologist (NATT) and Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), have threatened to resume their strike action over the failure of the Federal Government to honour the agreement reached with them.

Speaking on the planned strike, the Chairman of Joint Action Committee (JAC), at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Mr Dele Durojaye, said the resumption of the union’s strike action may commence as early as next week.

6. Osun state internal revenue service shuts down OAU over 1.8b tax

The Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has been shut down by the Osun State Internal Revenue Service (OIRS) over its failure to remit over N1.844,770,939.45 to the agency.

The institution was shut by officials of the Revenue Task Force who arrived the campus at about 7:00 on Wednesday morning.

7. Police re-arrest Melaye after court bail

The Nigeria police have re-arrested Senator Dino Melaye after he was granted bail by an Abuja court.

The Police investigation team re-arrested Senator Dino Melaye after his arraignment at Chief Magistrate Court, Wuse for the pending offences of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms already filed in a Court of competent jurisdiction in Lokoja for which he will be arraigned without further delay.

8. IGP has a track record of disobeying orders – Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki said the Inspector-general of police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, refusal to appear before the senate hasn’t surprised him at all.

He said the police chief has a bad habit of disobeying orders.

9. I will never support Buhari’s 2019 ambition – Obasanjo

Nigeria’s former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Wednesday debunked allegations that he has decided to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 presidential re-election bid.

In a press statement by his media aide Mr Kehinde Akinyemi issued in Ogun State, Obasanjo said the allegations were malicious and unfounded.

10. Liverpool survive Roma scare to set up champions league final with Real Madrid

Liverpool lost 4-2 to Roma in their second leg champions league semi-final clash on Wednesday, but qualified for the finals 7-6 on aggregate.

Liverpool will now face Madrid in the finals on May 26.
