1. APC governors endorse President Buhari for second term

The 24 APC governors in the country have endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term as Nigeria’s president.

This was disclosed by the Imo state governor and chairman of the forum, Rochas Okorocha.

2. Reps summon President Buhari over Benue killings

President Muhammadu Buhari was during plenary on Wednesday, April 25, summoned by the House of Representatives over the incessant killings in the Nigeria.

Buhari is also expected to brief the house on the security situation in the country.

3. Court sends Senator Peter Nwaoboshi to prison

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi representing Delta North senatorial district in the National Assembly, has been ordered to be remanded Ikoyi Prison.

Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court ordered that Nwaoboshi be remanded in Prison till Friday following his arraignment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud.

4. Senate suspends plenary, summons Police IG over Dino Melaye’s arrest

The Senate, yesterday, suspended plenary and adjourned as well as ordered the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to appear before it by 11:00am (today) in connection with the arrest and maltreatment of Senator Dino Melaye.

The lawmakers, some of whom were emotional, took turns at the plenary to condemn the police for what they termed as inhuman treatment of Melaye by security operatives.

5. President Buhari to visit Bauchi state today

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected in Bauchi today on an official visit where he is to commission some of the projects executed by the Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar administration in the state.

The state government has therefore declared a public holiday to welcome President Muhammed Buhari to the state.

6. INEC to hold verification for Dino Melaye’s recall on Saturday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says it will commence the verification of signatures of those seeking the recall of the embattled Sen. Dino Melaye on April 28.

INEC Federal Commissioner, Mohammed Haruna, made the disclosure at a stakeholders meeting today in Lokoja.

7. Court stops National Assembly from changing order of elections

A Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the national assembly from going ahead with plans to re-order the election sequence earlier announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Ahmed Mohammed, in a judgment on Wednesday, held that the powers to organise, conduct and fix dates for elections resides only with INEC by virtue of Section 15(a) of the 3rd Schedule to the Constitution.

8. Military receives report on Taraba killings and Danjuma’s statement

The panel set up by the Nigerian Army to investigate the brutal killings in Taraba State and the alleged connivance by the military, particularly the army, Wednesday submitted its report.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai, stated that the panel’s report into the Taraba crisis would be released to the public in no time for the public to judge, insisting that nothing would be left unturned.

9. Group demands probe into leakage of WAEC answers

Civil society groups have called for an independent investigation of the malpractice rocking the ongoing 2018 May/June Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) in Nigeria.

The integrity of the examination organised by the West African Examination Council has been tainted by the exposure of real-time sale of answers to candidates by some online platforms.

10. Real Madrid defeats Bayern in Champions league semi-final

Real Madrid moved a step closer to a third straight Champions League title after winning 2-1 in first-leg victory at Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Bayern scored first, before Madrid equalized and went on to win the game.
