House Of Reps Summons President Buhari Over Killings In Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has been summoned by the House of Representatives over the incessant killings in the Nigeria, Buhari is also expected to brief the house on the security situation in the country. The House summoned the president during plenary on Wednesday, April 25.

The unprecedented decision was unanimously welcomed by an overwhelming majority of the lawmakers.

Verification For Dino Melaye’s Recall Holds On Saturday – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says it will commence the verification of signatures of those seeking the recall of the embattled Sen. Dino Melaye on April 28.

INEC Federal Commissioner, Mohammed Haruna who made the disclosure at a stakeholders meeting today in Lokoja over the commencement of the recall process explained that the verification exercise would hold in 552 polling units in seven local governments under Kogi West senatorial district.

Omoyele Sowore, a presidential aspirant,today said since he declared his bid to run in the 2019 elections, some fraudulent politicians have been having sleepless nights.

Dino Melaye: Senate Suspends Plenary, Summons Police IG

The Senate has suspended plenary and adjourned sitting till tomorrow, as well as ordered the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to appear before it by 11:00am in connection with the arrest and maltreatment of Senator Dino Melaye.

The lawmakers, some of whom were emotional, took turns at the plenary  to condemn the police for what they termed as inhuman treatment of Melaye by security operatives.

Atiku Reveal Plans For Nigeria If Elected President In 2019

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has on Wednesday, revealed his plans for Nigeria if elected as president in the 2019 election, saying that he will offer states a matching grant of $250 million each to challenge them to enhance their internally generated revenue.

CJN Disapproves Association Of Judges

Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen says he isn’t interested in judges forming an association to speak for them when under attack because their mandate is adjudication, not advocacy.

He made this declaration today at the unveiling of Apex Quarterly Magazine, a maiden in-house publication of the Nigerian judiciary, Abuja.

NAF Train Youths On Fish Farming

In a bid to curb criminality within its vicinity, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base in Lagos has today introduced and empowered 100 barracks youths on fish farming.

Naija News learnt that the  Youths Empowerment Through Agriculture (BYETA) was flagged off by Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Toyin Suarau, at the Sam Ethnam NAF Base, Ikeja.
