Senate Summons President Buhari On Killings

The Nigerian Senate concurs with House of Representative on summons to President Muhammadu Buhari for him to appear at a joint session of National Assembly, at a yet-to-be agreed date, to brief lawmakers on measures to curb insecurity across Nigeria Naija News can authoritatively report.

Recall that less than 24 hours ago, the House of Representatives had summoned Buhari over the incessant killings in the Nigeria, Buhari is also expected to brief the house on the security situation in the country. The House summoned the president during plenary on Wednesday, April 25.

The unprecedented decision was unanimously welcomed by an overwhelming majority of the lawmakers.

The President is now expected to appear before the Joint House at a later date.

Meanwhile, A Senator Matthew Urhoghide has moved a motion for the impeachment of President Buhari over the payment of $496mn for purchase of Tucano jets without National Assembly approval.

The Nigerian Senate has suspended the motion on impeachment of the President  till next week.
