1. Reps in rowdy session over calls to impeach President Buhari

The House of Representatives was thrown into a rowdy session over calls for impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari by Honourable Kingsley Chinda over illegal withdrawal of $496 million to pay for 12 Tucano jets without National Assembly approval.

Members of both chambers of the National Assembly have been left angry over the payment, which they contended was done in breach of the constitution and without legislative approval.

2. Two priests, 17 others killed by Fulani herdsmen in Benue

Suspected Fulani herdsmen, attacked St. Ignatius Quasi Parish Ukpor-Mbalom in Ayar-Mbalom community of Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State, at the early hours of Tuesday, resulting in the death of two Catholic priests and 17 other worshipers.

Report has it that over 100 houses were burnt down during the attack by the herdsmen and they also sacked the entire community.

3. President Buhari appoints deputy DGs for NIA

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Amb. Apollonius Demenongu Agev from Benue State (North Central) and Mr. Kio Solomon Benibo Amieyeofori from Rivers State (South-South) as Deputy Directors-General (DDGs), at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

This was contained in a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and signed by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office GSO, Olusegun Adekunle.

4. Melaye jumps out of moving SARS vehicle

Senator Dino Melaye on Tuesday, jumped out of a police moving vehicle conveying him to Kogi state and ran into a thick bush.

The police operatives also jumped out of the vehicle and gave the fleeing lawmaker a hot chase, and have him back in their custody.

5. Police prevent another bomb attack on Bama

Security operatives on Monday night, prevented an attempted suicide attack by three suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists on Bama Local Government Area of Borno state.

Three of the suicide bombers were neutralized by troops before reaching their targets on Monday night.

6. President Buhari reacts to recent Benue killings

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday said that the killing of worshippers and two priests at a Catholic church in Ukpor-Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State is “vile, evil and satanic”.

President Buhari described the killing of priests and worshippers as a calculated attempt to initiate religious conflict and plunge communities into endless bloodletting.

7. APC governors hold closed door meeting with President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday met with governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The meeting, which began at about 8pm, held inside the conference hall of the office of wife of the president at the presidential villa Abuja.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, were also in attendance.

8. Oyegun reacts to Oshiomole’s endorsement for the position of APC national chairman

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun, has described as ´´absolutely childish´´ the endorsement of the immediate past governor of Edo, Adams Oshiomhole, by South-South stakeholders of the party to take over from him.

He made this known to newsmen at the party´s National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

9. Switzerland returned $322m Abacha loot with interest – Envoy

Switzerland said it has returned all the money kept in the country by late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, with $1.5 million interest.

This was disclosed by Amb. Pio Wennubst, Assistant Director-General and Head, Global Cooperation Department, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.

10. Liverpool defeat Roma in champions league semi-final

Liverpool put one leg in this season’s champions league final with a 5-2 victory over their semi-final opponents, Roma.

Mohammed Salah who was instrumental for Liverpool victory, scored twice and contributed two assists in the game also.
