1. Dino Melaye arrested and released by immigration officers

Senator Dino Melaye, was on Monday, arrested and detained by officers of the immigration service at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport over what they referred to as instructions from above.

The Kogi lawmaker has since been released.

2. Shiites and Police clash again in Abuja

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, staged yet another protest in Abuja as they continue to demand for the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky who has been in federal government custody since 2015.

A member of the protesting group reportedly died in the clash with security operatives yesterday.

3. EFCC arrests PDP’s Peter Nwaoboshi

Peter Nwaoboshi, one of the three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators who is alleged to be among the looters released by the federal government have been arrested by the The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC reportedly arrested Nwaoboshi last week over corruption charges hanging around his neck after failing to honour several invitations by the agency.

4. South South APC endorse Oshiomole as party national chairman

South South APC leaders, purportedly, endorsed former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, as the adopted candidate of the zone for the national chairmanship position, at a zonal meeting held at the Government House in Edo state.

However, APC chairmen from Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers and Bayelsa, as well as some aggrieved zonal leaders, told the newsmen that whatever resolution reached at the South South zonal meeting, held at Government House, Edo State, was not binding on them.

5. No plans by Saraki, Tambuwal to dump APC- Gov. Badaru

Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State on Monday debunked the rumour that senate president, Bukola Saraki and Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal were planning to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He made his submission while fielding questions from State House correspondents after meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President at the State House.

6. N-Power releases 2017 final list of successful candidates

The administrators of the federal government social intervention scheme, N-Power, have announced the list of successful candidates out of the pres-selected 2017 candidates that successfully scaled through the physical verification stage.

The information directed candidates to use their phone number and email address to check if they have been selected as beneficiaries.

7. Heavily armed police men storm Dino Melaye’s residence

Heavily armed and fierce looking operatives of the Nigeria Police, yesterday laid siege on the Abuja residence of the senator representing Kogi west, Sen. Dino Melaye.

The police revealed the senator has so far failed to honour their invitation to report at their station.

8. 2019 elections would be tough – Oyegun

Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has admonished his party to brace up for a tough fight as the 2019 election approaches, adding that Nigerians have become wiser.

He however, pointed out that the leadership of the party remained committed and dedicated to make sure that this party is out in political fighting mood for the 2019 elections.

9. Senator Shehu Sani slams N5b libel suit against Governor El-Rufai

Senator Shehu Sani, representing Kaduna Central senatorial district, in a retaliatory move have issued a counter claim, seeking compensation for an alleged libelous broadcast maliciously made against him by the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, during a live broadcast transmitted through a radio station in Kaduna.

The law maker is demanding N5b in damages.

10. Secondus gets restraining order against Lai Mohammed over looter’s list

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, has restrained Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and others, from further publishing the name of the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, on a looters’ list.

The restraining order was made, yesterday, by the trial judge and Chief Judge of the State, Justice Adama Iyayi-Lamikanra, when the matter came up for hearing.
