Melaye Arrested Based On Instruction – NIS

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has confirmed the arrest of Sen. Dino Melaye at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Monday morning.

Spokesman of the Service, Mr Sunday James, told NAN that Melaye was arrested by Immigration officials “based on instruction”.

The confirmation from the immigration service, is coming hours after Naija News reported the arrest of the Kogi senator, early on Monday.

Melaye, had made public the news of his arrest via a tweet from his Twitter handle at 7:32 a.m.

“I have just been arrested at the international wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on my way to Morocco for an official engagement sponsored by the Federal Government after checking in,” he tweeted.

The Nigeria Police had earlier declared Melaye wanted, accusing the outspoken lawmaker of links with a criminal gang by supplying them arms for their operations.
