1. President Buhari returns to Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned back to Nigeria after his two weeks official trip to United Kingdom.

He came back throgh the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja where he was received by top government officials including his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

2. Suicide bombers attack Bama mosque

No fewer than four persons were killed and eight others wounded in a suicide bomb attack on Sunday at a mosque in Bama Local Government Area of Borno.

The attack came barely four weeks after thousands of displaced persons were resettled in the community.

3. Nigeria to get 12 fighter jets from US in 2020

The U.S. says it will in 2020 deliver the 12 Super Tucano fighter jets and other weapons it agreed to sell to Nigeria to combat Boko Haram insurgents and other extremist groups.

A senior U.S. Department of State official made the disclosure during a background briefing with selected journalists at the U.S. Consul General’s Residence on Sunday in Ikoyi, Lagos.

4. 16 killed in Kogi by suspected herdsmen

Some suspected herdsmen yesterday allegedly invaded Kpanche community in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State, killing 16 persons.

Reports have it that the Fulani herdsmen invaded the community in the early hours, razing down five houses and unspecified number of vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles and other property.

5. Senator Dino Melaye arrested in Abuja

APC Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, says he has just been arrested at Abuja’s international airport.

This was revealed via a tweet from the senator’s Twitter account Monday morning.

6. Soyinka warns Nigerians ahead of 2019 elections

Professor Wole Soyinka, yesterday warned Nigerians against embracing the coalition formed by politicians in a bid to rescue Nigeria.

Soyinka, while speaking at the 80th Posthumous Birthday celebration of late activist, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, in Ikeja, Lagos, said the nation’s democracy was under threat, noting that members of the newly formed coalition were enemies of democracy.

7. President Buhari hires private investigator to recover looted funds

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a private consultant, Victor Uwajeh, being accused of fraud, to trace and recover undeclared assets and proceeds of fraud as part of the ongoing fight against corruption in the country.

The London based Nigerian private investigator was said to be facing a four-count charge the Federal Government preferred against him for attempting to obtain money through fraudulent means from Senator Andy Uba, who is representing Anambra South Senatorial District.

8. INEC denies creating new 30,000 polling units

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied creating 30,000 additional polling units in order to compromise the 2019 general elections.

Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party`s (PDP), on Friday alleged that INEC was planning to create 30,000 illegal polling units in some remote areas.

9. Miracle emerges winner of BB Naija 2018

Miracle, one of the big brother naija final contender has been declared the Winner of BBNaija 2018 reality TV show.

Miracle would go home with N45 million star prize which includes N25million cash, N20million in prizes.

10. Salah crowned PFA player of the year

Liverpool and Egypt Forward, Muhamed Salah has been crowned the Professional Footballers Association’s (PFA) English Premier League Player of the Year.

Egypt star Salah has scored 41 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions, 31 goals in the league, tying for most goals scored by a single player in a season in Premier League history.
