1. Thugs invade national assembly, steal mace

The senate floor of the national assembly, was on Wednesday during plenary, attacked by hoodlums who took away the mace which represents the symbol of authority for the lawmakers.

The senate sergeant-at-arms tried to stop them but they overpowered him and in the process, made away with the mace.

2. Reps put controversial 2019 election sequence re-ordering bill on hold

The Bill for an Act to amend the Electoral Act 2010 to make provision for re-ordering sequence of elections, have on Wednesday, been suspended from being considered by the House of Representatives.

The bill, which was listed for second reading in the Order Paper of the day, was suspended on the request of the sponsor of the bill, Edward Pwajok.

3. Nigerian youths want everything for free – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari said a lot of youths in Nigeria do not want to do anything as they believe that Nigeria is an oil-rich nation.

President Buhari made this statement while speaking with the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster on Wednesday.

4. Police recover Senate’s stolen mace

The Nigerian Police has recovered the Senate’s stolen Mace at a flyover before the Abuja City Gate.

According to ASP Aremu Adeniran, Deputy Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters a patriotic passer-by saw it and alerted the Police.

5. Omo-Agege denies involvement in stealing Senate’s mace

The Senator fingered in the stealing of the senate mace yesterday, Ovie Omo-Agege, has denied leading thugs into the national assembly to steal the senate mace.

He made this in a statement after his arrest by the police and he has subsequently been released by the police.

6. Ekweremadu briefs Osinbajo on stolen mace

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu has at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, updated Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, on what transpired earlier at the Red Chamber during plenary on Wednesday.

Ekweremadu and Osinbajo met behind closed-doors for hours after the invasion of the Senate chambers by suspected thugs.

7. Court sacks Delta state deputy speaker

The deputy speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Friday Osanebi over has been removed from office by the high court over alleged falsification of information.

The high court sitting at Kwale in the Ndokwa West local government area of the state also directed INEC to issue certificate of return to the PDP candidate, Emeka Odegbe.

8. FG appeals to striking health workers to resume

The federal government has appealed to the striking health workers under the auspices of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) to return to work.

The health workers had declared an indefinite strike over what they described as government’s insensitivity to their demands.

9. Stop playing politics with the nation’s security – Army

The Nigerian Army has warned politicians in the country to avoid playing politics with the security situation in the country.

The army also promised its commitment to protecting the country from every form of aggression.

10. Ohanaeze sacks John Nwodo as its president

The apex Igbo social cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Wednesday reportedly sacked its President-General, Chief John Nnia Nwodo.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council said he has been replaced with Prince Richard Ozobu.
