Supreme Court Has Failed Nigerians - PDP Reacts As Tinubu Floors Atiku In Court

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have asked for a immediate and detailed inquiry into the clash between the police and the Shi’ite protesters today in Abuja.

Recall Naija News about 115 members belonging to the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) have been arrested by the federal capital territory (FCT) while protesting violently in Abuja.

The protesters had taken to the Unity Fountain, to demand for their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, who had been arrested and kept in custody for over two years. This is not the first time they would be protesting.

The action came in few days after they were banned by the FCT Police Commissioner, Sadiq Bello from their daily sit-outs at Unity Fountain by activists and protesters.

According to eyewitnesses, security officers from the army, police as well as civil defence forcefully dispersed the protesters with tear-gas and gun shots.

The PDP in a statement on Monday signed by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan said it is gravely worried over the handling of security in the nation’s capital and “the near breakdown of law and order”.

The party said the government is infringing on peoples’ right by forcefully bringing them down.

The PDP and indeed all lovers of democracy across the country are deeply concerned by the continued erosion of democratic tenets by the APC administration, resulting in avoidable crisis in various parts of the country. The PDP sues for calm while demanding for an immediate inquest into the cause of this clash.

“We also urge security high commands to ensure that this matter is nipped in the bud with the highest level of professionalism.”
