Father and Son Remanded In Prison For Allegedly Suffocating Tenant To Death

An elderly man, Augustine Anumudu and his son, Okey have been arraigned before an Ebuta-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly suffocating a tenant to death on Monday.

The two were charged with two-count of conspiracy and murder, but their plea was not taken.

According to Inspector Julius Babatope, the crime were committed on April 2, 2018 by 2.00 p.m, at No. 3B, Esomo St., off Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The inspector said that the offense goes against sections 223 and 233 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

He said to the court that the two accused persons  had conspired to suffocate Anthony Obuse to death on the fateful day due to a long-term grudge between them over illegal occupation of Anumudu’s house.

The two accused persons were granted bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adegite. However she order that the accused should be reminded in prison until the bail conditions were met.

According to NAN, Adegite ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for advice and adjourned the case until May 14.
