Two suspected members of the Amalgamated Niger Delta Avengers, Lovegod Chinuzioke and Justice Okolo have been arrested by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.

The suspects were arrested after allegedly writing to an oil company, Niger Delta Petroleum Resources, at Obumeze community, in the Ahoada Local Government Area of Rivers State, demanding a pay of N20m and subsequent payment of N3m monthly.

The suspect also threatened that they would start kidnap workers of the firm and destroy the facilities if the company didn’t adhere to their demands.

Naija News gathered that 27-year-old Chinuzioke, a native of the community, came up with the plan and got contacts of some of the senior personnel in the company.

The police went in search of the suspect immediately the incidence was reported.

“They were arrested, while a phone used to send the threat messages was recovered from them,” the source said.

According to a source, Chinuzioke, who is a native of the town, just finished serving a prison term in Port-harcourt and all effort were being put in place to ensure that the other suspects are duly apprehended.
