Woman Defrauds Man Of N.88m For Kuwait Visa

A 30-year-old businesswoman, Patience Ojobo, who defrauded a man of N880,000 has today been brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

Naija News learnt that Ojobo is been arraigned for obtaining money under false pretenses and stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, said the accused collected N880,000 from Mr. Ozioma Raymond after promising that she would help him obtain travel documents.

The complainant approached the accused to help him procure travel documents for a trip to Kuwait.

“The accused demanded N600,000 for visa and N280,000 for ticket, totalling N880,000, which the complainant agreed to pay,” Ayorinde said.

Ayorinde said after the money was paid into her accounts, the accused disappeared.

“Immediately the accused received the money, she went into hiding, but was arrested six months after,” the prosecutor said.

Ojobo pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted bail of N200,000 and two sureties in like form.

The Magistrate, Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, said that the sureties must be gainfully employed, and must provide evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Osunsanmi, thereafter adjourned the case until May 21 for mention.
