1. President Buhari receives Archbishop of Canterbury in London

As part of his official visit to the UK, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, received the Archbishop of Canterbury, Archbishop Justin Welby, at the Abuja house in London.

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to United Kingdom George Adesola Oguntade, was also part of the delegation that visited the president.

2. Buhari extends VAIDS to June 30

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) to June 30, 2018.

The short extension after the original March 31 date is based on the appeals of professional bodies and individual taxpayers.

3. Adeosun denies blocking payment to lawyers who worked on Abacha loot recovery

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, has denied that there is any controversy surrounding the repatriated funds looted by the late former military Head of State, General Sanni Abacha.

She said this in reaction to allegations that she wrote a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, blocking the payment of $16.9million fees to lawyers for the repatriation of the funds.

4. Another senator in alleged certificate scandal

Senator Foster Ogola, has been accused of parading certificates from a non-recognized university.

He is accused of parading a PhD from GMF Christian University, an institution not accredited by the National Universities Commission.

5. I was deceived into visiting Buhari in Aso Rock – Abuja Pastor

Henry Sado, who was part of the delegation that visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa in Abuja last week, has come out to declare that says he was deceived into joining the team that made the visit.

He claimed not to have full details of the reason for the visit.

President Muhammadu Buhari, has revealed why he announced his second term bid before traveling to the United Kingdom.

He said he needs to respond to the clamour of Nigerians as many were already putting him under pressure to disclose his intentions for the 2019 elections.

7. FEC approves new university for Nigerian Army

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its meeting on Wednesday, has given approval for the establishment of a new university for the Nigerian Army.

The university will be located in Biu, Borno State.

8. Fayose withdraws murder charge against APC chieftains

An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has discharged and acquitted the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Jide Awe, and two others who were arraigned for murder.

This follows the withdrawal of the charges against them by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

9. OAU queries professor allegedly involved in sex for mark scandal

The authorities at the Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), have issued a query to Professor Richard Akindele for his alleged involvement in a sex for mark scandal currently rocking the institution.

The authorities also called on the lady in question to make a formal complaint on the case.

10. Real Madrid survives Juventus scare, qualify 4-3 on aggregate

Real Madrid needed a last minute penalty to qualify for the semi finals of the 2017/2018 UEFA champions league.

Juventus were leading by three goals on the night before the penalty was awarded and duly converted by Christiano Ronaldo.
