Skye Bank Manager, Brother Drown To Death

The Manager of Skye Bank, Abak Road Branch, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Ubong Ekpe and his brother have been reported dead.

Naija News learnt  that Ubong, who was on a picnic with his wife and children, drowned along with his brother, Francis, at the Ibeno Beach, Iwuokpom community, in the Ibeno Local Government Area of the state.

The two men reportedly died after drowning in a Beach.

According to Leadership, the duo are reported to have gone to Ibeno Beach where they attended a friend’s birthday party on Sunday before their tragic deaths.

The late Ubong was a Catholic faithful who worshiped with his family at St. Anthony’s Parish, Ewet Housing. He is also said to have owned a football betting centre on Udo Umana Street.

An eyewitness, who claimed anonymity, said that the drowning of the two brothers occurred on April 8 when they were at the beach with family members for picnic. He said that one of the victims was eating with his family and friends after which he went to swim.

“The victim was eating with his wife and children and after that, he went to swim and immediately raised alarm that he was drowning,’’ the witness said.

The witness also said that the other victim, out of sympathy, jumped into the ocean to save the drowning brother but was carried away by the surge of the ocean.

The witness said further that the victims would not have died if the beach had a management and safety guides.

Those who spoke on the demise of Ubong Ekpe described him as a jovial, easygoing and compassionate person. He is also said to have been a philanthropist who was quick to assist those who came to him for one form of help or the other.

His friends and colleagues have also taken to Facebook to mourn the loss/losses.
