1. Court dismisses IGP’s suit against Senate

Justice Abba-Bello Muhammad of the FCT High Court, Abuja yesterday dismissed a suit filed against the Senate by the inspector General of Police,Ibrahim Idris, for allegedly violating his rights.

The Judge noted that Nigeria’s constitution, section 88 and 89 allows the Senate to probe matters of public interest.

2.  EFCC begins former governor Ibrahim Shema’s trial

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) , has dragged Ibrahim Shema and three others to court on a twenty four count charge of misappropriation of local government funds, to the tune of N11bn.

Shema however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

3. Ekweremadu moves to prevent seizure of 22 houses by the federal government

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, will before the federal High Court on April 26th argue against the move by the Federal Government to seize 22 houses, said to belong to him.

For not declaring his assest, the Federal Government, is seeking an interim order for the temporary forfeiture of asset belonging to the Deputy Senate President.

4. Buhari seeks senate confirmation for 26 appointees

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Nigerian Senate for the confirmation of Festus Okoye as National Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Featus Okoye, along side 23 appointees have had their names sent to the Senate for confirmation by the President.

5. Presidency reacts to London protests as Buhari visits UK

The Presidency has described protest in London as an uncovered plan by “Nigerian looters”to disrupt the ongoing official visit of President Muhammadu Buhari.

It described the protesters as a rented crowd who want to distract the president from his mission.

6. EFCC arraigns Dariye’s son over money laundering allegations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday in Abuja has re-arraigned Nanle Dariye, son of former Plateau governor, Sen. Joshua Dariye, on a six-count amended charge of money laundering.

Dariye was re-arraigned before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu at the Federal High Court, Abuja for allegedly laundering total sum N1.5 billion niara.

7. Saraki gives ultimatum for 2018 budget submission

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has given the Appropriation Committee a deadline of Friday, April 13 to tidy up reports on the 2018 Budget, so it can be submitted to the Senate next week.

This he said before suspending the plenary in honour of late Sen. Mustapha Bukar who died on April 7.

8. Obasanjo is not God – Buhari’s minister

Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu has declared former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s remarks about President Muhammadu Buhari invalid saying that he cannot stop President Buhari from winning the 2019 election.

Shittu also called on supporters of president Buhari to commence preparation for the elections.

9. IPOB welcomes Buhari’s re-election bid

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has described the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari as a “welcome development”.

The group disclosed this is because they want the actualization of Biafra to occur under Buhari’s administration.

10. Roma dumps Barcelona out of champions league

Roma shocked the footballing world by defeating Barcelona 3-0 to qualify 4-4 on aggregate and end Barcelona’s 2017/2018 champions league campaign.

Liverpool also won 5-1 on aggregate against Manchester City to qualify for the semi-final stage of the competition.
