President Buhari To Contest 2019 Presidential Elections

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Monday, in Abuja, officially declared his intention to contest the 2019 presidential elections in Nigeria.

President Buhari made the declaration at a closed-door meeting of the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The President said he was responding to the clamour by Nigerians to recontest in 2019, adding that he wanted to give NEC the honour of notifying them first.

I am Seeking Re-Election Because Nigerians Clamored For It – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that his decision to officially declare for the 2019 presidential elections, is a response to the incessant call by Nigerians for him to re-contest.

Garba Shehu, media aide to the President, in a statement explaining the reason behind Buhari’s decision, said: “The President was responding to the clamour by Nigerians to re-contest in 2019,” adding that “he wanted to give NEC the honour of notifying them first.

Buhari’s Second Term Bid Is No News- Makarfi

A former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s declaration of his second term bid  was “no news” to Nigerians.

He said that the Peoples Democratic Party expected that Buhari will run; maintaining that nothing would change the party’s resolve to “do the needful.”

President Buhari Didn’t Approve $1 billion For Purchase Of Equipments- Presidency

The presidency has said that President Muhammadu Buhari did not approve $1 billion to Nigerian security agencies for the purchase of equipment without National Assembly’s authorization.

Various heated reactions from Nigerians met the initial announcement of the approval as many were of the opinion that approval for such fund should be exercised by the National Assembly and not Mr President.

Thugs Invade Atiku’s Campaign Office, Damage Vehicles

Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign office along Dandagoro road, Batagarawa local government area of Katsina state, was during the weekend attacked by thugs who allegedly destroyed vehicles parked within the premises.

The suspects reportedly attacked supporters of the former vice-president whom they met in the office.
