1. President Buhari departs Abuja for London

President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to depart the shores of Nigeria for the United Kingdom today, Monday 9th April, 2018.

He is expected during the visit to hold discussions on Nigeria – British relations with Prime Minister Mrs Theresa May, prior to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings scheduled for 18th to 20th April, 2018.

2. IGP deploys 3 units of mobile policemen to Offa after bank robbery

The Inspector General of the Nigerian Police, Ibrahim Idris has deployed to Kwara State, three units of Police Mobile Force ( PMF), high powered police investigation team and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to Kwara.

According to the spokesman of the Force, Jimoh Moshood, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, anti-robbery equipment and 10 crew members were also deployed to the state.

3. Senate President Bukola Saraki appoints former senator as aide

Senate President, Bukola Saraki has appointed a sacked Senator Danladi Abubakar, as his Special Adviser on Special Duties.

Abubakar who represented Taraba North Senatorial District was Chairman of the Senate’s Committee on NEPAD when he was removed by the Supreme Court in middle of 2017.

4. Nwabueze wants FG to delist IPOB as a terrorist group

Former National Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Prof Ben Nwabueze, has called on the federal government to delist IPOB as a terror organization.

He also said he will no longer participate in any peace talk unless the Federal Government delists the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as a terrorist group as well as de-proscribe it.

5. APC NEC meeting set to hold today

The National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress will hold its meeting, today (Monday) in Abuja.

The meeting is expected to take a final decision on the tenure of the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee.

6. MMM shuts down permanently

The Mavrodi Mondial Movement (MMM) ponzi scheme, has announced a total closure of its operations and services.

The information on the scheme’s website attributes the closure to the death of its founder, Sergei Mavrodi.

7. Army arrests gunmen in Benue communities

Troops of the Nigerian Army have after a shoot out in Benue state, arrested five gun-wielding herdsmen in six communities in Benue State, also killing one of them in the process.

Troops of 72 Battalion Special Forces on Saturday nabbed the herdsmen at about 1.30pm in the communities identified as Gbajimba, Baka, Tomanyi, Iyode, Dogon Yashi and Chembe.

8. CAN disowns Arewa pastors who visited Buhari

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has dissociated itself from the Arewa Pastors Non-denominational Initiative for Peace who recently visited President Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, saying it is not recognized.

CAN also chided the group for failing to talk about the release of kidnapped Leah Shuraibu during their visit.

9. Rico Swavey evicted from Big brother Naija 2018

Big Brother Naija housemate, Rico Swavey, was on Sunday, evicted from the reality TV show.

Following his eviction, he revealed plans to open a restaurant, as well as work on his acting and singing skills.

10. United defeats City at the Etihad stadium

Manchester United shocked their town rivals, Manchester City, by coming down from two goals down to win the Manchester derby by three goals to two on Saturday.

City would have won the 2017/2018 premier league title on Saturday if they had succeeded in defeating United.
