1. IGP restores Janga as Kogi State Commissioner of Police

Mr. Ali Janga has yesterday, been reinstated as the Kogi state commissioner of police by IGP Ibrahim Idris.

This was confirmed to newsmen in Lokoja on Thursday by the state police command spokesman, ASP William Aya.

2. Melaye heads to Supreme Court to stop recall process against him

Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, has appealed to the supreme court to declare as illegal, the move by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recall him.

Melaye on Tuesday, filed a seven-ground notice of appeal against the judgment of the Court of Appeal which had dismissed his suit instituted before the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge the validity of the process of his recall.

3. Four policemen, six others confirmed dead in Offa bank robbery

At least four police officers were reportedly killed during a robbery operation in Offa, Kwara State, on Thursday.

Reports have it that the robbers blew up entrances into the banks with dynamite, before carting away money from about five banks, in an operation which lasted for more than one hour.

4. I have no Islamization agenda – President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday stated that his administration has no hidden religious agenda.

He stated this while receiving a delegation of the Arewa Pastors Non-Denominational Initiative for Peace in Nigeria led by Bishop John Abu Richard at the state house in Abuja.

5. EFCC recovers N130 million in Gombe state

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it recovered N130 million as part of the illegal funds expended during the 2015 general election in Gombe state.

According to Johnson Babalola, Head of Operations at the Gombe Zonal Office of the EFCC, several others cases were still ongoing at the courts.

6. President Buhari explains why he didn’t sign ECOWAS economic partnership agreement

President Muhammadu Buhari has explained that he didn’t sign the ECOWAS economic partnership agreement in order to protect the country’s fragile economy.

He gave the reason while receiving Letter of Credence from the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria, Ketil Karlsen, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

7. Herman Hembe burn brooms as he decamps to PDP

Ahead of the 2019 election in the country, a three-time House Of Reps Member, Hon. Herman Hembe from Benue state who was recently sacked by the Supreme court, has announced his return back into his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Thousands of his supporters also joined him in dumping the APC for PDP.

8. Ekiti lawmaker breaks silence on his arrest by security operatives

Gboyega Aribisogan, the Minority Leader of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, has finally spoken out on why he was arrested and whisked to Abuja on Wednesday by security operatives.

He said he was requested to provide more information on an investigative report published in a newspaper which he publishes.

9. Army approves special promotion for 3,729 troops

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has approved special promotion for 3,729 troops, who participated in Operation DEEP PUNCH II in the Sambisa Forest.

A breakdown of the beneficiaries showed 223 Staff Sergeants promoted to the rank of Warrant Officers, 511 Sergeants promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeants while 994 Corporals were promoted to the rank of Sergeants and others.

10. Arsenal hit four past CSKA Moscow

Arsenal put a firm leg in the semi-final of the Europa league with a 4-1 demolition of Russian club, CSKA Moscow at the Emirate stadium in London.

Two goals each from Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey put Arsenal in control ahead of the second leg fixture in Russia.
