Ali Janga Returns As Commissioner of Police In Kogi State

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has given approval for the reinstatement of Mr Ali Janga as the Commissioner of Police in Kogi State.

The development was confirmed to newsmen in Lokoja on Thursday by the state police command spokesman, ASP William Aya.

Naija News learnt that Janga returned to office on April 3 on the order of the Inspector -General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris after meeting the one week ultimatum given to him by the police boss to re-arrest the suspects who escaped from police custody.

As earlier reported by Naija News, all the six suspects that escaped from police custody on March 28 had been re-arrested.

Aya further disclosed that 13 persons who aided the escape of the suspects had been arrested in Lokoja.

According to the spokesperson, commercial tricycles operators that helped the suspects escape, as well as the owners of the houses where they slept after their escape from custody, have been arrested and would be charged to court after conclusion of investigation.

Recall that six suspects, including Kabiru Seidu a.k.a Osama and Nuhu Salisu, who had accused Sen. Dino Melaye of supplying them guns for their operations, escaped from police custody in Lokoja.

The incident prompted Janga’s removal by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, who also named Mr Sunday Ogbu as the new Police Commissioner for Kogi state.

The 13 policemen that were on duty on the day of the jail break, have also started returning to their duty posts after interrogations at the Police headquarters.
