1. FG releases new list of looters, include Fani-Kayode and three PDP senators

The Federal Government on Sunday released additional 23 new names of alleged treasury looters including Femi Fani-Kayode, former minister of aviation, and three PDP senators.

The Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed in a statement issued in Lagos said the new list and the one earlier released were not arbitrary but based on verifiable facts.

2. We did not direct Mantu to rig elections for us – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party says the former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu’s confession that he rigged election for the People Democratic Party is his personal doing and not the party’s instruction.

This is as contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s national secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan.

3. Boko Haram deserves amnesty – Presidency

The Presidency has said that granting amnesty to Boko Haram insurgents would make them drop their arms, embrace peace, stop bloodshed and save resources for the country.

Senior special assistant to the President on media and publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said this in an interview in Abuja.

4. FG to close Apapa bridge for repairs

The Federal Ministry of Works has said that Apapa Bridge would be closed for maintenance.

Alternative routes would however be provided for road users during the planned repair works.

5. FG to investigate Cambridge analytica data scandal

The federal government has set up what it described as an in-house committee to investigate an allegation that Cambridge Analytica, a United Kingdom-based data firm, was hired by a member of the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to hack into personal records of the opposition party the All Progressive Congress’ (APC) candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, during the 2007 and 2015 electioneering campaigns.

The committee, according to a presidential source, would among others, investigate if the acts of the firm violated the laws of Nigeria or infringed on the rights of other parties and their candidates during the polls.

6. Gunmen kill two, kidnap nine in Kaduna

Two people have been killed by unknown gunmen in Tsohuwar Gwari village in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A source from the village said the gunmen who were said to have invaded the village at midnight last Saturday, also kidnapped nine people including a newly wedded bride.

7. Police deny claims on alleged plot to kill whistleblower

The Zone 5 headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force, Benin City, has described any plot to kill one Ovie Osiebe-Franklin, an alleged whistle blower, and one other Anodeh Brave, as false.

A statement released by Emeka Iheanacho, Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), said the alleged whistle blower was a suspect in a case of alleged false information investigated by the FCIID, Abuja.

8. Oluwo clears the air on Emir title

The oluwo of Iwoland in Osun state, Adbulrasheed Akanbi, has said he could be referred to as an emir to “integrate Nigeria nation as an indivisible entity.”

The royal father, in a statement by his media aide, went on to say he did not adopt the title of emir in Yorubaland but northerners and ardent Muslims could address him as such.
