1. President Buhari to visit Lagos state today

President Muhammadu Buhari would today, commence his 2-day visit to Lagos state where he is expected to commission several projects.

The Lagos state government have declared Thursday, a work free day so residents can welcome the president.

2. IGP sacks police commissioner in Kogi over jail break

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris has ordered the immediate removal of the Kogi State Commissioner of Police (CP) Ali Janga over the escape of six suspects, including two principal suspects who indicted Senator Dino Malaye.

CP Esa Sunday Ogbu, Commissioner of Police, Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja has been directed by the IGP to immediately proceed and take over as the new Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command.

3. Senator Dino Melaye declared wanted by police

The Nigeria Police has on Wednesday, declared Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West senatorial district in the upper house of the National Assembly wanted.

Melaye was declared wanted alongside Mohammed Audu, son of a former governor of the state, Abubakar Audu.

4. Melaye threatens to sue IGP

Senator Dino Melaye has threatened to sue the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris over the reported escape of two suspects who accused him (Melaye) of being their sponsor and gun supplier.

Melaye who spoke on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, cited Order 43 to submit that the police had either released the suspects or killed them.

5. National assambly set to pass PIGB bill

The Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB), has been harmonized by the two chambers of the National Assembly.

The Senators, have also gone ahead to pass the harmonized version of the bill after Senator Donald Alasoadura, (APC, Ondo central), presented a conference committee report on the bill.

6. Police arrest NBA Ikeja branch chairman over planned land use charge protest

Men of Lagos State Police Command yesterday laid siege to the premises of the state chapter of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, to arrest the chairman, Mr. Adesina Ogunlana, over plans by the group to embark on protests against the state government’s Land Use Charge, LUC.

But the state police spokesman, Chike Oti, said the NBA boss was only being invited to know the the area the protest would cover, especially in view of President Muhammadu Buhari’s official visit to the state.

7. Suspects escape Kogi prison

Two criminal suspects who accused Senator Dino Melaye (APC-Kogi West) of acquiring arms for them have escaped from police custody, Kogi police command have confirmed.

The two suspects, Kabiru Seudu, aka Osama, and Nuhu Salish, aka Small, along with four others, were said to have escaped from the ‘A’ division cell in Lokoja, around 3am and forcefully went through the back door.

8. Court gives Nnamdi Kanu’s sureties ultimatum to produce him in court

The Federal High Court in Abuja has once again asked the three sureties in the trial of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to produce the defendant or risk going to prison.

Justice Binta Nyako asked Kanu’s sureties, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe, a Jewish priest, Immanuu-El Shalom, and an accountant resident in Abuja, Tochukwu Uchendu to produce the defendant.

9. RMAFC says they are not aware of N13.5m running cost for Nigerian senators

The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), has said the approved monthly remuneration for a senator is put at N1.06m.

It further stated that the National Assembly Service Commission should be held responsible for the running cost of N13.5m paid to each senator on a monthly basis.

10. IGP Ibrahim Idris visits INEC headquarters over 2019 elections

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has visited the Abuja headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as part of security preparations for the 2019 general elections.
