The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), in Enugu state, has launched an investigation into the cases where registrants in the state are asked to pay money before they are registered.

The commission after dissociating itself from the act, urged members of the public not to pay any amount before been registered for their permanent voters card as the process is free.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Emeka Ononamadu, a copy of which was obtained by Naija News, in the aftermath of a video circulating in the social media which suggests members of the public are being asked to make payments before been registered.

The statement advised members of the public to get in touch with the commission and report any such cases which may be noticed or encountered.
