1. PDP begs Nigerians for forgiveness
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday, apologized to Nigerians over the mistakes made by the party during its time at the helm of the nation’s political affairs.
National chairman of the party, Uche Secondus, said this on Monday in Abuja at the opening of the public discourse on nation building.
2. Federal government discovers 30,000 fake police officers in its pay roll
The Federal Government has eliminated 30,000 ghost officers from Nigeria Police payroll.
The police payroll had the names of about 370, 000 officers, as well as rank and file. However, two weeks ago, when the police was brought on the Integrated Personnel Payroll System, IPPIS, platform, that number came down to 291,685.
3. Herdsmen kill five in fresh Benue attack
Fulani herdsmen on Monday attacked Agatu and Guma Local Government Areas in Benue State, killing five persons in the process.
According to a source, two people were killed in Agatu, two people killed in Guma, while one herdsman was killed at Lower Benue, a suburb of Makurdi.
4. Lassa fever slowing in Nigeria, but remains a source of concern – WHO
The World Health Organisation and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have disclosed that cases of Lassa fever is reducing in Nigeria.
They however warned on the need to keep the trend low in order to avoid a lapse.
5. MMM founder, Sergei Mavrodi dies of heart attack at 62
Russian businessman Sergei Mavrodi, founder of the MMM ponzi scheme, has died of a heart attack.
Reports said the 62-year-old was rushed to the hospital late on March 25 with pain in his chest and died several hours later.
6. APC caucus meeting holds in Aso Rock
The ruling All Progressives Congress, yesterday held its caucus meeting at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.
The meeting was hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari but Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was conspicuously missing at the meeting.
7. We have no reports of soldiers’ misconduct in Taraba state
The Ministry of Defence said on Monday that it had received reports from Nigerians on the misconduct of soldiers as regards the farmers and herdsmen’s clashes and had put such soldiers through “disciplinary procedures.”
The ministry said it, however, had yet to receive any report from Taraba State, adding that its doors were open to complaints from Nigerians on the activities of the troops.
8. It has been turbulent leading Nigeria in the last 3 years – President Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday said that the past three years of his administration has witnessed great turbulence but believes efforts by his government has started yielding positive results.
He said this at the inauguration of the newly constituted Food Security Council at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa Abuja.
9. President Buhari hosts the family of Martin Luther King
President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, received the family of the late renowned African-American Human Right Activist and Clergy, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The President was also conferred with The First Black History Month National Black Excellence and Exceptional African Leadership Award 2018 at the Council Chambers.
10. Super Eagles take on Serbia in an international friendly game
The Super Eagles of Nigeria, would today, take on their Serbian counterparts in an international friendly as part of preparations for the World cup tournament in Russia.
Captain Mikel Obi would not be available for the game but has charged his teammates to go for victory.
