The clouds over Coach Arsene Wenger’s future as Arsenal boss are yet to clear off as emerging reports suggest former Borussia Dortmund manager, Thomas Tuchel has held a closed door meeting on replacing Wenger at the Emirates stadium at the end of the current season.

Former German international, Matthaus is quoted by goal as telling Omni sport that Tuchel would be the right choice to take over at Arsenal and has been in touch with the camp at the Emirates stadium.

The coast is however not fully clear for a Tuchel takeover of the Gunners as Wenger’s position on his two-year contract is yet to be made public.

French giants, PSG, are also said to be interested in the 44-year-old Tuchel, replacing Unai Emery.

“You know, I’m a journalist too, we have to make headlines every day,” Matthaus said after a match between Liverpool and Bayern legends at Anfield on Saturday.

“I think Thomas Tuchel can be the favourite, [the] ex-coach from Borussia Dortmund, but I know he’s in touch with Arsenal and nobody knows what happens behind the doors.”

Tuchel, joined Dortmund in 2015, but left the club in May 2017, just three days after winning the DFB-Pokal.
